What we do
We open accounts in our own names at UK-facing casino sites, deposit our own money, play a little, and then request a withdrawal and time it with a stopwatch. We write down what was asked for, when it was asked for, and how long everything took. Then we publish the number with the date it was measured.
That is the whole method. It is deliberately narrow. We do not rate atmosphere, we do not score customer service out of ten on a feeling, and we do not count how many games a site has, because every site leases from the same studios. The criteria and their weights are set out in full on how we test.
How the site is paid for
Through affiliate links. If you click through to an operator from here and open an account, we may be paid a commission. That is stated openly in the terms of use and it is the only source of income the site has.
The rule we work to is that measurements happen before any commercial conversation, and the ranking is generated from the measurements. We are aware that is a promise rather than a proof. The only way to test it from outside is to hold our published figures against your own experience, and if they do not match we would genuinely rather hear about it — the address is on the contact page.
What we will not do
- Publish a rating without a completed measurement. If a test stalled, the site does not appear. A gap in the table is more honest than an estimate.
- Name an operator on an allegation we cannot stand up. Where something went wrong but we could not establish whether it was policy or a one-off, we describe it without the name.
- Recommend a site because it pays more commission. If we did, the numbers on the page would eventually contradict us, which is rather the point of publishing numbers.
- Write about anything outside the UK licensed market as though it were equivalent. The honest version of that subject is at casinos not on GamStop.
Who writes it
Nearly all of it is written by Nell Ashworth, who spent six years in the financial-crime team of a UK payments firm before moving to journalism. That background is the reason this site is so preoccupied with withdrawals: she spent years on the side of the desk that stops them.
Corrections
If something here is wrong, tell us and we will change it and say that we changed it. Measurements older than six months get re-run as a matter of course, because operators switch payment providers and the numbers move. If you have a withdrawal experience that contradicts what we published, that is not a nuisance — it is the most useful email we get.
